Super Eagles’ defender, Chidozie Awaziem made his European bow for Portuguese giants FC Porto when he came off the bench in the closing stages of their 3-2 win away to Galatasaray on Tuesday night, AOIFootball .com reports.
Having not tested action in the league or the Champions League this season, the 21-year-old joined the ever-growing list of Nigerian players to have featured in the elite competition when he replaced goalscorer Sergio Oliveira with eight minutes left to help preserve Porto’s 3-2 lead.
However, Super Eagles’ forward, Henry Onyekuru will have to continue his European adventure in the Europa League after his side lost 3-2 to FC Porto at home with Onyekuru coming off the bench at halftime.
The Nigerian was introduced for Ryan Donk but could not help his side salvage a point with Sofiane Feghouli missing a glorious chance to draw Gala level when he missed from the penalty spot.
The result was still enough to see Galatasaray finish as third with four points after bottom place Lokomotiv Moscow failed to win away at Schalke 04 with Bryan Idowu an unused substitute for the away team.
